Thank You for Making the Garden Rock!

Wow! The walled garden at Aros Park certainly did come alive with colour and crafts on Sunday 18th September in celebration of our ‘Make the Garden Rock’ event. Well done and thank you!

Local crafters, the Tobermory Brownies and Rainbows, residents of Glen Iosal and students from Tobermory, Salen, Dervaig, Ulva and Lochdon schools created a fantastic 533 painted pebbles to line the pathway from the top car park down to the garden. We are delighted to see their personal and colourful crafts paving the way to the community-focused future of this garden restoration.

The pathway also leads to one of two new visitor information boards, with the second to be installed at the garden shortly. These depict the planting plan and walk through the cultural, historical and horticultural importance of each part of the garden, as well as a timeline for the restoration over the next few years.

Refreshments, cake and pop-up crafts filled the garden with fun, with some for kids to take home too. A fantastic day celebrating the community focused future of the garden, one rock at a time. Thank you all who painted, crocheted, crafted and baked, and a big thank you to the CalMac Community Fund for funding this event and the brand-new information boards too.
